A Valuable Assemblage of Pictures, Prints in the Portfolio, and Drawings, of … S. W. Reynolds, Esq., Deceased
Messrs. Christie & Manson
Reference: Christie’s, 18–20 April 1836
The sale took place over three days, 18–20 April 1836. The low value of the items attributed to Girtin suggests that Samuel William Reynolds (1773–1835) had successfully disposed of the stock he detailed in documents dating from 1801 and 1803 when he was acting in some capacity as his dealer, including ‘Drawings by Girtin 19 Large size’ at £7 7s each and ‘10 smaller’ at £4 4s and that he was left primarily with his sketches.
