'The following described water colors by J. M. W. Turner were purchased by Mr. Manchester from Mr. William C. Ward of Church Terrace, Richmond, Surrey, England, an acknowledged authority on all works of Turner. In a recent letter Mr. Ward states that the water-color drawings were bought by his father at Christie's on March 25, 1899, and speaking as an expert he has no doubt whatever of their authenticity.'
