This pencil drawing of Caernarfon Castle has not been seen since it appeared at a sale in 1914 (Exhibitions: Sotheby’s, 24 February 1914, lot 27). Given that it was not photographed, it is not possible to comment either on the attribution or on which of the three different compositions developed by Girtin that it might relate to.
